Dress Up Your Graphic T-Shirt

When you are getting all dressed up for a night out, graphic t’s are probably the last thing that you reach for. I get it, I’ve always loved a funny or whimsical printed t-shirt, but Continue reading

By now, you are probably aware that there are certain pieces that are essential to have in your closet. You’ve heard that you need an LBD, good pair of jeans, and a trench coat probably a million times. While those are definitely must have’s, in my opinion, there are some other pieces that are also Continue reading

#TuesdayShoesday: Sneakers with Everything

Let your tired feet rejoice! Thanks to the longevity of the “athlesiure” trend, sneakers are no longer restricted to torture time at the gym. This is great news for pretty much everyone: if you wear heels too much, you can give yourself a break and still look chic, and if you never liked wearing heels in the first place, well, congrats, because sneakers these days are cooler than ever. Last spring, Chanel pretty much solidified this trend by sending all their looks down the runway paired with sneakers:

I won’t lie, making the adjustment and wearing sneakers with non-athletic wear was weird at first. I am one of those chicks that just love heels even though they always kill me in the end. When I wear sneakers, I can’t help but feel just a little bit cooler; they make your outfit look unexpected and a little bit more edgy. Here are a couple past outfits where I have tried the sneaker-as-fashion trend:

I also love how crazy sneakers are getting these days. You could go with anything from plaid white and clean to bright neon and printed, the possibilities are endless. Check out a couple of my favorite sneaker pics below:

Here’s some more great street style examples that show you can literally wear sneakers with anything from shorts and a t-shirt to an evening dress:

“Just put on something cute”

IMG_6542Girlfriends are great. You can always depend on them to be there for you when you need it, give you advice, and keep you grounded. I don’t know about you, but whenever I am about to go out with a friend of mine, one of us will inevitably text the other, “So, what are you going to wear?” For me personally, this is a way for me to gauge how dressed up/ down everyone else is going to be so I know I won’t be too over the top. Yesterday, two friends of mine had a good laugh at my expense, because apparently whenever they ask me this question, I always respond, “Oh, I’m just gonna put on something cute.” Yeah, that is just so helpful and specific, right?!

On another note, I wanted to post this top because a) I’m really obsessed with it, b) eyelet is huge for summer, and c) it looks just like a more expensive top from Zara that is trying to be Oscar de la Renta. This top is pretty and feminine, but the eyelet gives it that something different that is so much more interesting than a plain white shirt. Another reason eyelet is awesome: built in ventilation. It is really heating up around here, so fashion that also keeps me cool is a win-win.

Birthday Dress

IMG_6466
Last Saturday, I turned the big 2-7. While I am none too pleased at how dangerously close I am to being in my 30’s, I can’t say that I am never upset at having a birthday party. I really haven’t had any kind of social life for the last couple months due to the piles of school assignments I’ve had, so getting to actually go out and have fun was pretty exciting. This year, I celebrated my 27th birthday at Funky Sole Night at The Echo, which is a great time if you love dancing to some awesome 70’s funk jams. (I still have James Brown stuck in my head as I write this). I wanted to get into the theme of the night without looking too costume-y, so lucky for me, the 70’s are making a huge comeback in fashion these days. This dress isn’t something I would normally buy, but for the look I was going for, I loved it. My boyfriend describes this as looking like his grandmother’s couch. If that’s the case, she must have a pretty awesome couch.

The-Throw-on-and-Go Dress, or, How to Look like You Made an Effort

IMG_6428

In case you haven’t noticed, yoga pants have crossed over from a great option for getting your down dog on to a lot of people’s go-to’s when running around during the day. Although I have been known to be seen in yoga pants outside the gym, this only happens when I am grabbing something on my way home from a workout. Instead, I like to opt for easy pieces that still work for whatever my day throws at me, but still look nice. One thing that is invaluable in my life is the “throw-on-and-go” dress. The shirt dress is definitely having a moment right now, so take note, because they are so comfy and breeze-y. Honestly, I can’t have too many of these. This is particular dress was a somewhat recent purchase that I have been wearing nonstop. One reason that I am obsessed with this is that it makes me look pulled together with pretty much no thought or effort involved. It is definitely as easy as putting on some yoga pants, but way more chic.

My new obsession: Rocksbox

IMG_1988If you follow me on Instagram, you are probably aware that I have been raving over this thing called Rocksbox lately. (Btw, if you AREN’T following me on instagram, you totally should be! 😉 ) You may not be aware that Rocksbox is this awesome website that allows you to rent designer jewelry for $19 a month. We are talking awesome designers like Gorjana, House of Harlow 1960, CC Skye, among others. I like to describe it as “the Netflix of accessories.” (Think old skool Netflix, when they actually mailed you DVD’s.) Here’s how it works: you go to Rocksbox.com, where they will ask you a couple questions about your fashion sense, what kind of jewelry you like, what kind of jewelry you tend to wear more often, as well as the ultimate question: gold or silver? After completing this short questionaire, you can look through their inventory of jewelry and put specific pieces you love on your wishlist. Once all this transpires, the good people at Rocksbox put three hand-picked items in a cute little box and send it your way. Here’s what I got this month:
IMG_1990Once you get your box, you can wear your pieces as much as your little heart desires. When you are ready for something new, you simply pack up your jewelry in a packet that is provided for you, and ship it back to where it came from. Here’s the cool part: if you fall in love with anything in your box and want to keep it, just keep it! Your account will be charged for the item(s) that you kept, but at a discounted price. On top of the discount you get with your membership, you also get $10 a month to spend toward your new-found favorite pieces of jewelry. What is super exciting is the fact that I am able to give you (yes, I’m looking at you!) 1 month for free at Rocksbox so you can try it for yourself. All you have to do is enter my code, bellepasparfaitxoxo at checkout. Don’t say I never gave you anything! 😉

And without further ado, here’s my outfit featuring the necklace and bracelet from my Rocksbox:

Rage by Lucy Samuelian Launch Party

IMG_2020Last night, I had the great pleasure of attending the launch party of Lucy Samuelian’s new jewelry line, Rage by LS. In case you aren’t familiar with Ms. Samuelian, she is a personal stylist and one of the stars of the reality TV series, “The Glendale Life.” She took her love for accessories and fashion and created some truly unique pieces. On Lucy’s blog, she writes, “The main concept for ‘RAGE’ came from what surrounded me my whole life, whether it’s the love for my culture or California‘s beautiful oceans of course. The key is you have to believe in it to make it a reality.” I really enjoyed her collection, the pieces are edgy but not over the top and look awesome when they are piled on top of each other, like so….

IMG_2017I’m especially obsessed with this pearl ring from her “Deep Sea” collection, but seriously, I wanted everything! But really…my birthday is in a couple weeks so…if anyone wanted to know what I might want, here’s a great option! 😉 Shop the entire collection here.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Thursday evening! xo

We’ll Always Have Santa Barbara

IMG_6207

Sometimes, you just gotta get outta town, especially when you have been working your butt off for the last eight weeks with a slightly heavier school schedule while also balancing work. Spring break has never tasted so sweet as it has this semester, let me tell you. I had not spent much time in Santa Barbara, so my boyfriend and I decided to head up there for a couple days to explore and relax. Being the wine lover that I am, one of my favorite activities on this trip was going wine tasting in “The Funk Zone,” an area a couple blocks from the beach where all the local wineries have their tasting rooms. These pictures were taken after a couple hours of said wine tasting, so you might imagine how hard it was to actually balance on these railroad tracks. Though at the time I didn’t intend for it, this outfit is really giving really strong Casablanca vibes (thus the title of this post), probably due to the trench coat/fedora combination. A trench is one piece that is invaluable in anyone’s wardrobe. It’s practical when it rains, but it also is classic and can be worn with anything from a flannel and chucks to a formal dress. It is also great for almost any season, especially in spring when you could experience rain-showers and chilly sunsets all in one day.

Boho in the ‘Bu

IMG_9862
In case you are a bit confused by the title of this post, “the ‘bu” is what some of us here in Southern California lovingly use to refer to that paradise that is Malibu. The funny thing about living in LA is that while everyone else probably thinks that all we do is hang out at the beach, in reality, most people you talk to will tell you they feel as though they rarely get out to the coast. In my opinion, this is a huge shame and a sad reality. However, when you have a great reason to get yourself out to Malibu, like when your parents come to town, the excuse is always welcome. I had a great afternoon a couple weeks ago enjoying the sun and scenery at Malibu Pier with my parents, who were visiting from Tennessee. We grabbed some lunch at Malibu Farm, which I am pretty obsessed with because it was super delicious and healthy.

If you read my last post, you know that the Boho look is big this spring, which is why I did not hesitate to snap up this awesome crochet-macrame looking dress. I could also see it doubling as a really awesome bathing suit cover-up if you wore it sans slip. Another thing to note is the fact that whether or not you like it, gladiator sandals are still huge and don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, so get yourself a pair! They go great with things that have a hippie sensibility to them, but they also add a fun twist to other looks as well. Plus, they may make you feel like Xena, Warrior Princess when you wear them, which is not a bad thing.
