My new obsession: Rocksbox

IMG_1988If you follow me on Instagram, you are probably aware that I have been raving over this thing called Rocksbox lately. (Btw, if you AREN’T following me on instagram, you totally should be! 😉 ) You may not be aware that Rocksbox is this awesome website that allows you to rent designer jewelry for $19 a month. We are talking awesome designers like Gorjana, House of Harlow 1960, CC Skye, among others. I like to describe it as “the Netflix of accessories.” (Think old skool Netflix, when they actually mailed you DVD’s.) Here’s how it works: you go to Rocksbox.com, where they will ask you a couple questions about your fashion sense, what kind of jewelry you like, what kind of jewelry you tend to wear more often, as well as the ultimate question: gold or silver? After completing this short questionaire, you can look through their inventory of jewelry and put specific pieces you love on your wishlist. Once all this transpires, the good people at Rocksbox put three hand-picked items in a cute little box and send it your way. Here’s what I got this month:
IMG_1990Once you get your box, you can wear your pieces as much as your little heart desires. When you are ready for something new, you simply pack up your jewelry in a packet that is provided for you, and ship it back to where it came from. Here’s the cool part: if you fall in love with anything in your box and want to keep it, just keep it! Your account will be charged for the item(s) that you kept, but at a discounted price. On top of the discount you get with your membership, you also get $10 a month to spend toward your new-found favorite pieces of jewelry. What is super exciting is the fact that I am able to give you (yes, I’m looking at you!) 1 month for free at Rocksbox so you can try it for yourself. All you have to do is enter my code, bellepasparfaitxoxo at checkout. Don’t say I never gave you anything! 😉

And without further ado, here’s my outfit featuring the necklace and bracelet from my Rocksbox:

In(vest)ed

IMG_5765I bought this vest during the J. Crew Factory’s Black Friday sale last November, and it has quickly become one of my favorite winter season staples. Winter is pretty mild here in Southern California, so this vest is a pretty perfect way to stay warm on those days when its chilly but maybe not chilly enough for a coat. Having said that, many of my fellow Angelenos seem to think that 60 degrees means throwing on your heaviest winter coat, scarf, and hat…but…I digress. I love this vest because it’s so versatile; you can mix it with different patterns and textures, or dress it up or down. But honestly, the best part about it is how freakin’ comfy it is! Seriously, I feel like I’m wrapped up in a down comforter the entire time I have it on.

In case you haven’t noticed, fashion has been going in a very androgynous direction in the past couple of years. Over-sized fits, sneakers with everything, and sweatpants as fashion are all well and good, but sometimes I just feel like taking a break from all that and embracing my inner girly-girl. So please excuse the ultra feminine vibe of this outfit, because sometimes I just can’t help myself.

Happy Thursday, and thanks for reading! xo

Americana

IMG_3237

Hey everyone, just a little 4th of July outfit inspiration for you this afternoon. What could be more All-American than red, white and blue plaid, a denim jacket, and chucks? I am pretty excited for tomorrow as the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays, so I had some fun putting this together. My key for dressing right on the 4th is to keep it cool and casual, but still cute and festive. Taking a jacket along is never a bad idea as well for when the sun goes down.

Usually when the sun doesn’t show up for work in LA, that’s my cue to be completely lazy and bum around the house. Seeing as how these days are pretty rare in southern California, I really never feel guilty for my cloudy day laziness. However, the other day was really cloudy and yet, I got out of bed and went to boot camp. Such unheard of actions for a cloudy day. I guess my recent health kick is so on fire, it can’t be stopped by weather patterns, who knows? I’m going to chalk up this very springy, sparkly, happy looking outfit (on a cloudy day no less) to all the endorphins I must have from working out a ton lately.

On another note, my inner 5- year old self totally approves of this skirt because it definitely passed the “spin test.” That one should be pretty self explanatory.

Well I think its pretty obvious by now that camo is back in a big way. It should be noted however, that the army variety is the only one that is considered “chic” at this point. Wearing a wedding dress of the hunting variety of camo on the other hand, is not so cool. *cough, cough* Honey Boo Boo *cough* Leave that kind for the cast of Duck Dynasty, they are the only ones who can pull that look off.

Thanks for reading and have a great Sunday Afternoon! xo

Mixing prints is an ongoing fashion trend that I have loved but have been a little tentative to try. You either get it right or you get it so wrong. One easy thing to keep in mind if you do want to give print mixing a shot is to keep everything in the same color family, or at least go with complimentary colors. I thought I’d ease into it with a black and white sweater and some houndstooth, and just to spice things up a bit, I threw in little punches of pink.

Special thanks to my friend Sarah Hester for helping with my pics today! xo

Sunday Brunch

When it comes to Sundays, I can be very bipolar. Its either stay in my pajamas all day or get dressed up and have brunch with some friends. Nothing screams Sunday funday like bottomless mimosas (or bottomless sangria, for that matter.) One spot that has delicious brunch and mimosas is Luna Park. Gotta love how they have cereal ready and waiting for the moment you are seated.

I know most people are breaking out their fall duds right now, and I am super jealous of them. I love fall- the clothes, pumpkins, the leaves, crisp air, chilly nights, but unfortunately we really don’t have that here in LA. So this look is a bit summery but, so was the weather today at about 95 degrees. Here’s to (hopefully) the last scorchingly hot weekend for a while!
